I feel like I should write something here, to let you all know a little about how I do things. I'm not a professional, and haven't taken photography classes. I took an 8 week poetry class [as part of a larger arts sequence] this past year in school, but that's my only instruction with regards to poetry. I've kind of disregarded much of what happened in that class anyway, because it didn't jive with my style. But that's just the way it goes, eh?

When I write things, such as the poetry-like stuff that I've posted here, it's spur-of-the-moment. I get a word in my head, pull out a scrap of paper, and just start writing whatever comes into my mind as it comes. When it stops coming, I stop writing. I know they would be better if I were to edit them, but there's something about them raw that I like-- I feel like editing would take away from the feeling that it was meant to have. Well, there's that, and the fact that I don't know what to do to edit these things. Like I said, I'm not a professional, and I don't know what's considered "good." I just know what I like, and what I write.

Going along the same lines as my writing, I'm reluctant to edit my photos beyond cropping them. Something about the naturalness of the way the picture comes out originally, and it being the way things actually look, rather than how I want them to... I don't know. I have experimented with black&white and sepia, but that's generally as far as I've gone thus far. Maybe if I get some good photo editing program some day, I'll expand on that. We'll see.

I am always open to criticism. If you have any suggestions for me, be it about my pictures or my writing, please tell me. I don't care if you're an expert at this or less experienced than I am, don't hesitate to tell me what you think. After all, how are we supposed to improve without helping each other?
